Care guide

Looking after solid wood

Oiled wood is easy to live with. A dry cloth most days, a little oil once a year.

Oiled tops

Oak and walnut

Every day

Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth, along the grain. Avoid microfibre sprays and polish.

Spills

Blot straight away. Wine, coffee and oil leave marks if they sit overnight.

Heat

Use a mat under hot pans and mugs. Heat can leave a pale ring in the oil.

Once a year

Clean, let dry, then wipe on a thin coat of hardwax oil. Write to us for the one we use.

Laminate

A damp cloth and any mild cleaner. It does not need oil. The solid oak edge likes the same care as an oak top.

Engravings

Letters are cut by hand and oiled with the top. Clean them with a soft dry brush; do not fill them with wax.
